Here are the newest set of numbers for garrison event complete with sales receipts and my attempt at the math. Please go over my numbers to check for any mistakes the end numbers are about 10k off but its the closest I could get them ><

Garrison 1 had 18 people: 422,447/18 = 23,469 per person
Garrison 2 had 19 people: 422,447/19 = 22,234 per person
Garrison 3 had 19 people: 422,447/19 = 22,234 per person
Garrison 4 had 18 people: 422,447/18 = 23,469 per person

Add all that together you get 3,389,911 a 10,331 difference >< its the closest I could get it. I can work with this take like one er 2 gil from everyones total and make up for it but I would prefer the numbers to work out.
money doesnt really matter
Me myself i wasnt in the event for the money really but it is a nice bonus ^^. I really joined just to have a good time with fellow clan members and show my prowess in battle once again like ive done with the clan promyvion fights. I just have fun doing things with other people ^^
Garrison Funding for Events
I like Garrison Gil because it pays for Promyvion Potions - which is why I am more than happy to help Clan members get through Promyvion Boss Fights. How can you say 'no' to helping a Clan member fight a Spire Boss when the Clan tosses gil at you and more than pays for potions?
Having said that Ashicat has a point - gil is not why we play FFXI. If two different ways of computing Gil from Garrison are within 10,000 gil of each other for the final result for Tamara I could not care less which figure was ultimately used. How's that for rounding!?!? =^_^=
simpler way
Good job selling the loot Ray! I think the distribution could be greatly simplified by the following method:
List the players names, followed by the number of garrisons they each participated in. The number next to each players name represents the number of "shares" they are each entitled to. Divide the total amount of gil by the total number of shares to get gil/share. Then multiply that number by each players number of shares. Counting aggro control as participation, I get:
*20 gil difference due to rounding

Thanks, Roo... That's actually what I attempted to do in my spreadsheet I posted, but I actually started on the per Garrison number instead of just taking it as a whole (so that's where my numbers got messed up). You just did what I did, but without my mistakes :-)
This distribution looks correct to me. And, whenever we have the more complicated Garrisons in the future (with people coming and going) this is the model I'd suggest we use.

Yes, looking at it superficially I can't get the numbers to add up either.
It seems that this Garrison we had a couple of problems that are throwing a wrench in the distribution:
1) We had two battles with people on aggro patrol
2) The grouping doesn't accurately depict participation per Garrison run and per Garrison run pool. So, the grouping is almost useless (the grouping I detailed in my previous post).
Let me crunch some numbers and see what I can come up with. It seems like we will need a slightly different distribution scheme than the last time.

Well, I crunched away at it some more. It seems that the grouping is all wrong and we need to instead do it a per person distribution since we had people coming and going. This doesn't really affect the first few groups... but it does affect that last few.

However, as you can see from it, it doesn't add up either.
I'm going to be mind-numbingly busy this week with work and everything, so it may take a while before I can fix it. If someone else wants to step up and fix the math please do so :-)

The posted scheme will work every time
"List the players' names,
followed by the number of garrisons they each participated in.

Divide the TOTAL amount of GARRISON gil by the TOTAL number of shares for the night to get gil/share.
Then multiply the gil/share by each player's number of shares."
The above described scheme by Rooster cannot fail if you count aggro control the same as a run. It is pure math if you analyze it. For this to not work for a Garrison Night is to say that mathematics does not work.
TG = Total Gil (total gil for all the sales for the entire night)
TS = Total Shares (all the shares for the night, including aggro control)= Sigma of each player's shares
GS = Gil per Share (one share is one fight of four Goblin waves)
PG = Individual Player's Gil
GS (to three decimal places) = TG divided by TS
PG (rounded down) = GS multiplied by Individual's Shares summed across the Night
(aggro control for one Garrison counts as one Garrison Share)
Sum of all PG's will be always be less than < TG (slightly less, due to rounding down of each individual PG, you can't take to your Moogle Home half a gil)
The above scheme even works whether you include, or exclude, the Pashow Marshlands Garrison. All the inclusion of the Pashow Garrison does is decrease the amount of an individual share (since total shares for the night goes up), all excluding the Pashow Garrison does is increase the amount of an individual share. Since Pashow did not increase the total night's pot I think it is fine to ignore the Pashow incident for the posted computation. ^_^
Sure some Garrisons dropped more Harps than others, meaning an individual Garrison might be worth more than the one before - but I don't care about that! An individual Garrison's take-home pay is irrelevant to me! Go with the posted scheme!
It's just a game. I am really doubtful anyone is going to complain about being handed that much gil for each Garrison! And I also know everyone got a Mannequin Part, and I also know everyone got a Dragon Page!
Let's see, I played Garrison with the Clan and got 20,000+ gil per fight, at least one Mannequin Part, and one Dragon Page! Oh, I feel like a VICTIMIZED kitty for sure! I want my milk bottle! =~_^=
