Firstly i changed the date on maiors promy post... this will keep smaller posts like this one for instance from bumping it off the front page, i demoted golagres's one post per his request, i added a new poll i hope everyone can take the time to fill out, and i deleted the Book "I'm going Japanese" instead this will be replaced in the near future with a comprehensive guide for crafting... at that time crafting for dummies v 1.0 will be removed from the section "Tradeskill Recipe Book"
-thx milo

First of all, thanks for your enthusiasm :-) Doing polls and whatnot is all very good and it's nice to have someone to help out with that.
Second, I've been deliberately resetting dates on events as needed but generally letting them slip off the front page on purpose. The reason for this is because I used to exactly what you've done (change the date to keep them at the top of the front page). The problem is, people then tend to ignore the site when they see the same nodes always at the top. Basically, last year when I would keep nodes like that always at the top they would get much less discussion than they do when they are allowed to slip naturally off the page.
Third, DON'T DELETE ANY NODES! The W3C recommends that URIs never change. By deleting a node you are removing a URI from existence. I am a real stickler for things like this and adhering to other W3C recommendations.
Now, you've already deleted the "I'm going Japanese" page (which, btw, in doing so you've broken at least two other nodes on this site, another reason I don't want you to do it again), so it's probably gone forever. But do not delete any more nodes. If you want to refine something, that's fine, or if you want to make a new node and point the old node to the new one, that's fine as well (if you don't know how to do that, please ask me to do it).
Basically, I don't want you feel like I'm coming down on you for trying to help. I really do appreciate the help and I don't want you (or anyone) to stop helping out. But I am something of a Nazi when it comes to W3C recommendations and good site management practices.

hmmm...
I'm sorry lol... didn't realise that it created so many problems. I guess looking at it again i can see what your saying ><. Also ya lol i can see the other thing with post on the main page... well now i know... and Knowing is half the battle. GI JOE!!!
Heh
It's cool. Honestly it's a small thing... but I still am a Nazi with respect to web standards and adhering to W3C recommendations (if anyone checks the HTML to this page, however, they will see loads of tables used for formatting... so I guess I'm a hypocrit as well).
